2025, installation, performance,
projection with 3D animation, 20 min
The installation consists of 4 performers and 4 props, which are being pushed through the space during the course of the performance. The rhythm of the movement is dictated by the amplified clicking of the changing lights of a traffic light.
The switching sound is amplified with a contact microphone and is being manipulated.
The props resemble objects that exist in public space, which are usually stationary. A rock, a fountain,a tree, and a fence.
All objects are on wheels, which makes new movements in space possible and changes how we perceive the objects.
The objects are made out of ephemeral materials, like
cardboard, which supports the impression of them being
a prop and the space being a stage or movie set.
Throughout the performance, the performers build
ever-changing new compositions with the object.
In the second part of the performance, a 3D animation is
projected in the background.
It shows a screen recording, a point of view shot of someone moving around in an urban setting, inside of a 3d modeling software.
In the virtual scene, the real objects appear as duplicates.
The movements in the virtual space and in the real space overlap and at times seem connected.
The effortlessness of the movement in the virtual space
highlights the physical effort that the performers have to make to move the physical objects.
